Welcome to Diwan

Diwan is a bilingual digital and cultural platform created to provide space for diverse creative and literary expression.

Launching as a completely voluntary forum for Southasian literature in Europe, we wish to fill the void of recognition for the creative existence of underrepresented groups and cultures. At Digitaldiwan.com, we aim to promote writers and artists of and from diverse backgrounds. Contemporary arts and literature exist in a transcultural world where digital technology acts as a common language, while wisdom is localized. Diwan intends to explore these post-colonial cultural currents by creating an anthology of diverse artistic experiences.

Diwan is divided into two sections; in the English section you can find articles/multimedia related to global literature and culture whereas the Urdu section is dedicated to Urdu literature and translations in Urdu language.

Diwan means collection of a poet’s work

Word ‘Diwan’ also refers to a couch and a special place in Mughal courts where royals used to meet the public.
